Rfave offers you personalized recommendations for local services and businesses, wherever you are. Whether you’re looking for the best hamburger in New York City or a good dentist in San Antonio, rfave aims to help find the one that’s right for you.
Rfave is the brainchild of Erin and Trey Bean, a husband-and-wife team. We first started thinking about personalized local recommendations a few years ago, when we found ourselves frequently asking for recommendations on Facebook. “Who knows a good doctor?” “Who knows where I can get a real margarita made with real lime juice in this town?” Each time we asked questions like these, we turned to each other and said, “I wish there was an app that would keep track of all of this stuff.”
We quickly realized that the best local recommendations might come from outside our own social networks. Sure, our friends generally have similar tastes to ours, but sometimes they don’t, or sometimes they just don’t have the same needs.
So we decided to build an app that uses your Facebook profile to analyze your basic likes and dislikes and tries to find recommendations from people who are similar to you.
We started building rfave right before our daughter was born in late 2009, and launched in January 2011. It has been a labor of love that has consumed nights, naptimes and weekends. We sincerely hope you like it.
We hope someday to be traveling in a strange city and find ourselves craving tacos, pull up rfave on our phones and find some killer carnitas.
